Our Dental Implant Process
Restore Your Smile in Three Steps
Getting dental implants is a three-step process that’s typically completed over the course of a few months. We also feature advanced treatment options for patients who need to save time.
Explore our guide to learn about each step of the dental implant process in detail.
Initial Consultation
During your first appointment, Dr. Cooper will examine your teeth, gums, and jawbone to determine if implants are the right treatment for you. He’ll also listen to your smile goals and answer any questions you have about the procedure.
If you suffer from gum disease or bone loss in your jaw, Dr. Cooper can prepare you for implants with a supplemental procedure. Thanks to these treatments, more patients can qualify for dental implants than ever before.
Implant Placement
Once Dr. Cooper determines you’re ready, he’ll place the titanium implant fixture in your jaw and protect your surgical area with a temporary crown. At this point, you’ll need to allow three to six months for your mouth to heal before returning to our office.
This recovery period also allows time for your implant to integrate with your jawbone in a process known as osseointegration. This is what allows your implant to function like a natural tooth and it’s critical to the success of your treatment.
Final Restoration
After your jaw and gums have fully healed, you can return to our office and complete your treatment. We’ll attach a small connective piece called an abutment to the implant fixture and top it with your new prosthetic tooth.
We feature a range of implant restorations to restore any number of missing teeth, including crowns, bridges, and dentures.
Same-Day Treatment Options
If you’re missing a full arch of teeth, traditional implants can be very costly and time-consuming. For your convenience, we feature two treatment options that can restore a full set of teeth in one appointment.
Teeth in One Day uses just four dental implants to secure a full denture. By placing the implants in specific locations to maximize your healthy bone tissue, we can provide you with a stable restoration that never requires a bone graft.
We also feature TeethXpress®, an alternate option that uses up to six implants for additional stability. Keep in mind that you’ll need a dense, healthy jawbone to take advantage of this treatment.
