Are you Looking for Long-Term or Short-Term Solutions for Oral Health?

A diagram of a dental bridge. When you are missing teeth or at risk of having teeth extracted, you are faced with many choices for replacement. The two most popular options are dental implants and dental bridges. Both options are a great way to stabilize your mouth and enable you to eat and smile as normal.

When it comes down to deciding which is better for you, it mainly depends on the length of time you want the solution to last. If you are looking for a short-term solution while you figure out how you want to handle the future, maybe deciding between dental implants and dentures, a dental bridge is a great choice. It is important to know, however, that the typical bridge lasts 5 to 10 years before requiring replacement.

If you are looking for a long-term solution so that you don't have to deal with the idea of tooth replacement again, dental implants are the better choice. Implants are meant to last for the rest of your life as long as you care for them with proper oral hygiene, watch your diet, and visit the dentist for cleanings twice a year. Dental implants are also a stronger option, which allows for better chewing, which for many people is an important aspect.

As you consider your options, make sure to weigh all of the pros and cons. Just because a bridge was right for one person does not mean it is right for you; and the same goes for dental implants. Please call us to see which decision is right for you!
